Disciplinary Process

Disciplinary Actions by Sergeants:

  • Verbal Warning:

  • Private discussion with the Deputy regarding the issue.

  • Email sent to Human Resources for tracking purposes.

Disciplinary Actions by Lieutenants and Above:

  • Suspension:

    • Deputy placed on Administrative Leave for a specified period.

    • Violation of this suspension may result in immediate termination.

    • Duration between 1 to 30 days, communicated to Human Resources.

Disciplinary Actions by Captains and Above:

  • Termination:

    • Dismissal from the Los Santos County Sheriff's Office.

    • Irreversible except by the Sheriff.

Appeal Process:

  • Deputy may initiate an appeal once per disciplinary action.

  • Meeting between disciplined Deputy and issuing supervisor in the Sheriff's office.

  • Human Resources and Command will deliberate and determine the outcome.

  • All parties involved must maintain confidentiality during and after the appeal process, except for Sergeants or higher with no direct involvement in the case.
